Dr. Hernandez Officially Named CCISD Superintendent

CORPUS CHRISTI - Dr. Roland Hernandez officially became the next superintendent of school for Corpus Christi ISD this morning with a unanimous vote from the school board.

The board approved a three-year long contract with Dr. Hernandez that pays an annual salary of $242,000.

When you add in things like cost of living, phone and car allowances the total salary adds up to more than $286,000.

Dr. Hernandez says he's ready to tackle the challenges facing the district.

"We do have some areas that struggle a little bit academically, but we'll address that and continue to offer the best programs in south Texas and continue to be some top performer across the state in a lot of different things we do."

Outgoing superintendent Scott Elliff will remain with the district until his official retirement date of September 30th.
