CORPUS CHRISTI - CCISD board members will get an update this afternoon from Superintendent Dr. Scott Elliff on the review of the death of a Haas Middle School football player.
Cameron Espinosa, 13, died days after he was bitten by ants on the field during a game. Officials say he suffered a severe allergic reaction. Doctors kept him in a medically-induced coma until his death last Monday.
Today, Dr. Elliff is expected to update the school board on district policies and procedures related to the incident. There will also be discussion on hiring an outside agency to look at the incident and provide ideas into improving response into critical care.
Attorney Thomas J. Henry will hold a news conference this afternoon on his review of the case. Espinosa's family retained the personal injury attorney.
