CORPUS CHRISTI - After possibly releasing the wrong name for a woman killed in a crash this weekend, officials are ran fingerprints and searched for more information before providing an update.
This evening, a Department of Public Safety official said they had confirmed Crystal Rachelle Pollard as the deceased and had notified her family.
On Sunday, a Chevy Blazer veered into oncoming traffic along Highway 77 north of Sinton and was hit by a bus. The passenger in the Blazer died at the scene. State troopers have confirmed the name of the driver, who is hospitalized with head injuries, but there was confusion about the name of her passenger.
Less than half an hour after the name went out via KRIS 6 News and other media, viewers called in to let us know the family of another woman had been notified of her death.
The Department of Public Safety couldn't comment about that woman, but later told us they were working with the Medical Examiner's Office to find out what happened in this case.
There's no official cause yet for what caused the driver of the Blazer to veer into oncoming traffic. Authorities say both women were wearing their seat belts.
