Dozens Of Dead Cats, Thousands Of Roaches Found In Home

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Animal control officers found dozens of dead cats and thousands of cockroaches inside a vacant home Friday afternoon.

Some of the cats were so badly decomposed they were reduced to skeletons. Neighbors said they have been seeing an unusually high number of cockroaches in the area, and decided to call animal control after noticing the bulk of them were coming from an abandoned house.

"At dusk it's almost freaky; it's apocalyptic," said neighbor Allen Light. "There are literally just thousands and thousands of roached coming out of the house."

Light said the house has been vacant since the elderly woman who lived there moved out after he husband died last November.

Animal control has not yet said how the cats died or how long they were dead inside the home, something it may never be able to determine.
