PORT ARANSAS - Like to listen to loud music while on the beach? The City of Port Aransas is clamping down on music that's louder than a vacuum cleaner, about 70 decibels, from noon to 10 p.m.
During spring break, city officials will be handing out citations that carry a fine up to $500. City council approved the ordinance last month.
Officials say when people turn up their music it draws larger crowds to the area which leads to traffic jams.
"We have to keep the traffic moving and you can't do that if you have a couple thousand people packed into one area because there is a portable DJ rocking out to music," said Parsons.
