CORPUS CHRISTI - Animal Control caught the stray dog that attacked a high school student yesterday.
Yesterday morning this dog was roaming around near Solomon Coles High School. 18 year old Tara Gamino was on her way to school when it attacked.
"I was avoiding another dog that looked kind of mean. And in the process I wind up getting bit out of nowhere," said Gamino.
Gamino says the dog bit into her right calf leaving three puncture wounds.
"At first I didn't really didn't even realize it till I tried stepping forward. And then I looked down cus I felt something sharp and I saw a dog was on my leg," said Gamino.
She says she then yanked her leg out of it's mouth and walked to the nurse. Doctors checked out the bite and told her she would be fine, but did give her rabies shots. Gamino says while it stinks this had to happen to her, she's glad no one else was hurt.
"Cus there's a lot of mothers and fathers and kids that go to the school I go to and I'm kind of glad it happened to me and not one of them," said Gamino.
Animal control finally caught the dog at 11 o'clock this morning. The dog is being held at Animal Control. If no one claim it in the next 10 days, it will be put down.
