Doctor Pleads Not Guilty to Healthcare Fraud

CORPUS CHRISTI - A Robstown doctor accused of health care fraud, identity theft and mail fraud was in federal court today.

Dr. Roque Ramirez plead not guilty to the charges. The indictment says he filed close to 5,000 false bills to Medicaid and Medicare totaling $1.4 million dollars. Some of the patients he's accused of billing for were already dead on the dates he claimed to provide services.

Ramirez was allowed to post a low bond as he awaits trial.
