HOUSTON - Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins is being fined $30,000 by the NFL for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler. On Sunday night, Cutler suffered a concussion believed to be a result of the the hit.

Cutler initially did not show any symptoms and took seven more snaps in the first half. It wasn't until halftime that the symptoms showed up, and the Bears pulled their quarterback at that point.

Dobbins, a seven-year NFL veteran, was flagged for unnecessary roughness after making contact with Cutler. Chicago went on to lose, 13-6 to the Texans.

This past Sunday was a particularly violent day for NFL quarterbacks as Cutler, San Francisco's Alex Smith and Philadelphia's Michael Vick all suffered concussions.

There's still no definitive word on whether Cutler will be active for Chicago's monday night game against the San Francisco 49ers.

"We're still evaluating him, he's meeting with people, medical staff, our trainers and all of that, but he's getting better," Coach Lovie Smith said Wednesday. "We do have a little bit more time and that's always good."
