ROBSTOWN - Robstown police will soon present their findings to the Nueces County District Attorney's office to consider additional charges against Precinct 5 Deputy Constable Ben Zapata
According to Constable Frank Flores, Zapata surrendered his county-issued weapon and personal firearms yesterday evening.
Zapata was arrested late Monday as officers investigated his common-law wife's claims that he punched her in the mouth and shoved her on the floor.
He's only charged with retaliation right now as police say he threatened her life while calling her 56 times as she gave a report to officers on Saturday.
Constable Flores says he's not yet seen the police report on the incident, but will make a determination on Zapata's employment sometime tomorrow after he's had a chance to look it over.
Zapata's been on vacation since last week.
