CORPUS CHRISTI - U.S. Marshals arrested 29-year-old Anthony Diaz this afternoon for his alleged role in Monday morning's murder at a car wash in Corpus Christi, according to police.
Diaz was taken into custody during a traffic stop involving a Cadillac along Villa Drive near Up River Road. We're told Diaz was a passenger in the car. Diaz is currently at the City Detention Center for questioning. Police say his bond for the warrant has already been set at one million dollars.
Investigators tell us 34-year-old Juan Ramirez was shot multiple times and left for dead before 4 a.m. on Monday at the car wash on the corner of 15th Street and Morgan Avenue.
Police had previously released surveillance video from the car wash which shows two men around what appears to be a Ford Fusion sedan about the same time as the murder. Investigators also said they were looking for a maroon Pontiac Grand Am in connection with the case.
We've seen Diaz in our newscasts before. He's been featured as a Corpus Christi Gang Member of the Week (2011) and for allegedly harboring a suspect wanted for murder in Mathis (2011).
