CORPUS CHRISTI - Destination Bayfront could be on the ballot in November.
Organizers presented the proposal to the city's Planning Commission on Wednesday night, asking that the commission approve the calling of a $45 million bond issue for November.
That money would make up most of the $53 million needed for Phase 1 of the project.
If passed, it would mean about a 23 dollar a year tax increase for homes valued at a hundred thousand dollars, according to Trey McCampbell, who helped present the plan Wednesday.
McCampbell said if approved by votes, construction would likely begin in 2015.
The planning commission unanimously approved sending the project to voters in November, so the issue now goes to the city council for a similar approval next week.
