CORPUS CHRISTI - Workers started the process today of clearly marking which spots outside the Nueces County courthouse are designated for employees or customers only.
County Commissioner Joe McComb lead the effort for parking lot improvements after noticing the chaos on jury duty days. The entire parking lot at Artesian and Lipan Street is now designated for customers and visitors only. The lot to the East of the courthouse can only be used by employees.
Striping was finally put in place last year on the lot at the corner of Artesian and Blucher. The lot directly across the street from KRIS Communications is used daily by station employees, however, all of the spaces in front of the station are now designated for courthouse employees only. The spaces closer to the library are designated for visitors or customers of the courthouse.
Check out the attached parking lot plan images to make sure you're headed to the right place if you have business at the courthouse. If you're caught parking in the wrong area, you could end up being charged with a Class C misdemeanor and a fine of up to $20 per offense, but no more than $200 total.
