CORPUS CHRISTI - A deputy constable visiting from Eagle Pass died a day after he was robbed in downtown Corpus Christi. CCPD just released the information this afternoon, one week after Jose Blanco passed away.
According to police, officers went out to 600 Water Street on Sunday the 16th for a man who had a serious head injury. Blanco was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital where he died the next day. We're told Blanco told officers he was robbed.
Police are not sure what happened to Blanco. The case is not considered a homicide as of today.
Blanco worked for the Maverick County Constable's Office.
