CORPUS CHRISTI - County and National Democratic officials are looking to former state Rep. Solomon Ortiz, Jr. as a possible challenger to U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold.
KRIS 6 News confirmed today with Nueces County Democratic Party Chairman Joseph Ramirez that Ortiz met with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington, earlier this week.
On his Twitter account (@solomonortizjr) he sent out, "Great to visit with leadership and staff today... Especially seeing old and new friends in DC. Excited to see what's next!"
Ortiz served as state representative for District 33 in Corpus Christi for two terms before losing his seat in the 2010 mid-term elections.
He's out of the state and we've called him a couple of times. We've not yet heard back.
