December is 'Safe and Sober' Month in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Coastal Bend Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse kicked off its 17th annual "Safe and Sober" campaign this morning.

They're reminding everyone to be safe on the roads this holiday season. Police chief Floyd Simpson says 26 extra officers will be patrolling the roadways, looking for drunk drivers this holiday season.

"If you're out driving drunk, I don't care if it's the holiday season, there's a responsibility that we have as Texans, as residents of this city and it's my aim to put you in jail if you're behind the wheel drunk," says Simpson.

Mayor Nelda Martinez proclaimed the month of December as "Safe and Sober" month.
