6 Investigates: DeAngelis Resigns Following Arrest in San Antonio

KINGSVILLE - Texas A&M Kingsville Athletic Director Brian DeAngelis resigned from his position at the university this week following his arrest in San Antonio for 'improper photography.' Authorities say he's accused of using a camera on his shoe to take photos up a 14-year-old girl's dress as she walked around a Walmart with her mother.
The mother told investigators a man was following her and her daughter in the store. She alleges that DeAngelis walked up behind her daughter with his leg extended. Thinking DeAngelis planned on walking past them the mother told her daughter to move over, but she told police she noticed a camera taped to the top of his shoe.
"She became upset because her daughter was wearing a dress. So she told the suspect to stop and that's when he took off," said Sandy Gutierrez with the San Antonio Police Department.
Police say DeAngelis ran out of the stor, but another customer followed him as he drove off. Officers caught up with him and searched his car. Police say they found a cell phone that contained video taken inside the Walmart. Those images are said to include a shot up the girl's dress and other womens' undergarments.
Randy Hughes with Texas A&M Kingsville put it bluntly, "It's not a good situation at all." "It's not something you want to happen. It does happen. The university considered it serious. And we are gonna have to move on," said Hughes.
University officials expect to meet next week for a discussion over who will take over the position of Athletic Director full time.
