DALLAS - A Dallas man appeared in federal court to hear himself accused of pointing a green laser beam at a police helicopter flying nearby during an investigation.
A federal magistrate on Tuesday scheduled a Thursday detention hearing for Kenneth Santodomingo. He's accused of pointing a laser pointer at the aircraft from his home Monday. If convicted of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison and fined $250,000.
Authorities say the 22-year-old man pointed the laser several times at the helicopter as it assisted officers looking for a suspect in a burglary. The pilot found where the light was coming from and directed officers on the ground to the location.
