CORPUS CHRISTI - There's new information on complaints against wedding planner Justin Lee Olle, operating as Justin Lee Designs.
We learned about Olle after some brides and brides-to-be came forward saying he dropped the ball on their wedding plans. We contacted him by phone Monday. He told the Troubleshooters he planned to refund all the money his clients had paid him by today.
Clients who showed up at Olle's business this morning based upon his instructions instead found a hand-written note which reads, "cashiers checks are being mailed to every client no later than 2 o'clock today."
Courtney Roemer and Raul Ayala are expecting a $2,400 refund they can use for their December wedding.
"I read everything that was posted on Facebook. About all the other brides and all of the vendors have not been booked. The only thing I know I have is a photographer. And I'm halfway there," Roemer said.
Shortly after our story aired Monday, Randy Wilmark, owner of Prints Charming, says he created the 'Justin Lee Designs Victims' Facebook page.
The printer is one of several vendors who've posted on the page, offering to help these couples by providing their services.
Kevin Peel's getting married in 6 weeks and had been paying Lee to set everything up. Now what? He tells us he's already contacted the caterer and the venue, both claim they haven't been paid.
The Troubleshooters contacted District Attorney Mark Skurka to find out what legal options these couples have. Skurka told us the alleged victims should contact police first.
"Once the police department looks at these cases, they gather up the information and then they'll present the case to one of the assistant DA's to review the case to see whether or not we can prosecute," said Skurka.
Skurka adds that this could be a case of Lee being in over his head as a businessman. Criminal intent would have to be proved in order for the case to be heard.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Lee texted us claiming 7 of his clients have received their cashier's checks.
