CORPUS CHRISTI - Former Moody standout Luis Flores has been invited to the Chicago Cubs Spring Training Camp. Flores originally thought his professional career was over, electing to retire to focus on personal issues.
"It's crazy I'm over hitting with my old high school coach (Corky Gallegos) and I'm just excited. Excited to be here, excited he is getting me ready," said Flores.
Gallegos, who no longer coaches high school baseball, has opened up his one training center.
Flores meanwhile was drafted in the 7th round of 2008 MLB Draft.
His career has been spent bouncing around the Minor League system as a catcher. In 2012 he batted .167 with Tennessee seeing action in only 26 games. This after one of his best seasons the year before.
