Crazy Ants Invading Coastal Bend Homes

CORPUS CHRISTI -- If ants are invading your home, the good news is you're not alone. The bad news is they're not always easy to kill.

So, to get rid of them, it usually requires help from a professional.

The type of ants we're talking about are called crazy ants.

Rico Reyes with Pest Fog Inc. says "Once here they dominate, they go everywhere. They get into a new place and they go wild."

Crazy ants don't like the cold, that's why you may see more of them on days like today.

Reyes said, "These are tropical ants so they don't like the cool. They'll move into a structure when it gets cold."

Reyes says exterminators can be used as your front line of defense.

He says they're your best chance at getting the invaders out of your warm, cozy home.

Reyes said, "Our homes provide the perfect place for them with food, water, shelter."

An exterminator will spray the inside and outside of your home and put some ant bait out.

Crazy ants take the bait back to their friends and it kills their colonies.

You should notice them gone within a day or two, keeping your home and your sanity crazy free.
