SINTON - The San Patricio County courthouse is blocked off as authorities look into a suspicious package delivered to the tax assessor-collector's office this morning.
A female employee opened the package to find a white, powdery substance. Two women were checked out by medics and hosed down by firefighters running decontamination.
At this time, Judge Simpson says this does not appear this was an actual threat against the county. He believed someone accidentally placed the powder into the package.
All the employees at the courthouse were sent home for the day, but were told to anticipate coming back to work on Monday. The entire area around the courthouse remains closed.
