Councilwoman Leal Heading to Houston for Rehabilitation

CORPUS CHRISTI - Councilwoman Priscilla Leal will undergo treatment at TIRR Memorial Herman hospital in Houston following stroke earlier this year.

It's been three months since the council representative for District 3 had to take a leave of absence for medical reasons. Her daughter told KRIS 6 News the family is looking at a long road to recovery.

It was her husband who found her on the ground inside the family home in January. She was rushed to Corpus Christi Medical Center-Doctors Regional hospital for emergency care. Then taken by Halo-Flight to the medical center in the Rio Grande Valley where doctors removed a blood clot from her brain and inserted a stent to unblock a narrowing of blood passages.

This is the final year of Leal's fourth and last term representing District 3 on the city council.
