Councilman: Ethics Complaint Leads to Crime Control Board President Resignation

CORPUS CHRISTI -- City Councilman Chad Magill says Susie Luna-Saldana resigned her post as president of the Crime Control Board this morning after someone filed an ethics violation complaint against her.

He tells us she did so for the greater good of the board.

Saldana was found guilty of assault last month after a campaign worker for Rose Mesa Harrison accused her of ripping up a campaign pamphlet and slapping her in the face. That case was handled in the Justice of the Peace court.

Saldana's attorney is in the process of having the case heard in a higher court.

This afternoon, a statement from Saldana's attorney said she expects her client to be "fully vindicated" when the case goes to trial.

It continues, "She (Saldana) will continue to be a community activist, and she will seek reappointment to the Crime Control Board when this malicious attack on her character and reputation finally has been adjudicated in her favor."
