CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi City Council has approved sending the proposed $44.6 million Destination Bayfront bond before the voters in a special election in November.
The proposal requires an additional $15 million in private funds before any construction would start. Developers have said the project hinges on the public's willingness to back the project.
The voters already approved the 2008 bond project to realign Shoreline Boulevard away from the seawall. The Destination Bayfront project would use the area between the rebuilt road and the seawall for a 34 acre park, with the possibility of shops or kiosks in the future.
