Corpus Christi Clutch Done After Just 4 Months

CORPUS CHRISTI - You want to talk about a confusing story, filled with conflicting versions, then the story of the the Corpus Christi Clutch's future is perfect for you. On Monday afternoon Clutch Head Coach Johnny Moore told us the team had been kicked out of the American Basketball League, then later that evening ABL and Clutch Owner Steve Haney said that wasn't true.
The coach of the Clutch, former San Antonio Spurs player Johnny Moore, claims half his players were never paid and he is also owed money. He blames the failure of the team on no local ownership and a severe lack of communication with the league owners.
Coach Moore says Haney won't answer or return his phone calls.
"I called him twice Monday, three times Tuesday, 4 times Wednesday and nothing, then I finally called him star 67 and he answered, so you know it's that type of non-communication," said Moore.
Haney then fired back that Moore was simply angry about being fired, and that the league was in a holding pattern while the decided on the future of the Clutch. He told me he was withholding the players and coaches most recent checks based on events that happened two weeks ago at a game in Laredo.
"Witnesses at the game inclduing a pastor and woman with a youth group told me they heard the Head Coach using the word mother f****, and a player calling a young mexican american woman a fat b****, then yelling at the refs telling them speak english mother f****, that's why he was terminated and that is why we are whether or not we should continue forward," said Haney.
