Copper Thieves Hit Post Office, Leave Behind Their Tools

CORPUS CHRISTI - Crime scene technicians were out collecting evidence at the Stonewall Station post office in Annaville following an copper theft overnight.

A contractor says he came to the closed facility this morning to find the offices in disarray.

The location closed earlier this year due to a massive fire. The property is currently surrounded by a chain link fence to keep out intruders.

The contractor told us thieves got away with about $500 worth of copper from air conditioning units, but managed to leave behind their tools worth a whole lot more.

So far, there's no comment from police.
