Cop Car Rear-Ended by Suspected Drunk Driver

CORPUS CHRISTI - A 20-year-old faces charges of driving while intoxicated after police say he slammed into the back of a CCPD unit on the JFK Causeway this morning.

The officer was stopped on the road due to a minor crash in the same area. Police say Austin Roberts' Ford Ranger plowed into the officer's SUV then flipped over.

Fire crews had to cut the top off of his truck to get him out. Both he and the officer were taken to the hospital.

Roberts is now in the Nueces County Jail.
