CORPUS CHRISTI - Still holding on to "cool" temperatures for most of South Texas as afternoon highs stuck in the upper 60s for the most part. A few areas could push the lower 70s by sunset, but overall the persistent layer of clouds over us has kept temperatures from warming too much this afternoon. Those same clouds are what kept our overnight temperatures from falling into the 40s as they acted like a blanket over us and made for warmer overnight lows and cooler afternoon highs. We'll try again tonight for chilly conditions as most of the clouds should begin to dissipate as drier air continues to filter on in and coupled with light wind expected overnight, the temperatures should respond by falling rapidly into the upper 40's. It is worth mentioning that if some locations hold some cloud-cover, temperatures will struggle to fall out of the 50's for overnight low. However, based on current satellite images and trends this afternoon, clear skies are likely expected.

So for tonight's forecast, look for mainly clear skies and a chilly overnight low expected around 49 degrees for the city, 50s along the coast, and lower 40s for our northern counties. Winds should remain light out of the northeast at 4-8 miles per hour.

Monday looks spectacular with mostly sunny skies expected and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 70s with a light east-northeast wind around 7-11 miles per hour.

Forecast from the National Weather Service, Corpus Christi

Temperatures will gradually warm up the further along in the week we get as the upper 80s are back in the forecast by Wednesday of next week and last through the weekend. It also looks breezy on Friday and Saturday with moisture increasing back into our area as the winds switch around the southeast and bring back muggy conditions from the Gulf of Mexico.

Have an excellent work week!
