CORPUS CHRISTI - Officials confirmed today that the Board of the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau has placed Chief Executive Officer Keith Arnold admininstrative leave, pending his official resignation.
Executive Board Chairman Michael Womack said on Tuesday afternoon that a third-party auditor, during a review of room-night calculations, asked that Arnold be placed on leave, last week.
The 11 voting members of the executive board followed the auditor's recommendation and asked Arnold to go on leave, pending the results of the room-night audit, Womack said.
"It has nothing to do with finances," Womack said. "It's just looking at how we calculate our room-nights."
Room-night calculations are one of many ways of measuring sales performance, he said.
"The only reason he's been on leave is at the recommendation of the room-night auditor," Womack said. "And Keith was happy to comply."
Womack gave Arnold a glowing send-off, focusing on all the good things Arnold accomplished in his seven-year tenure.
"He's done great work...strategic work...for the hotel and tourism industry here," Womack said. "We wish him the best of luck."
Womack said Arnold is expected to deliver a timeline for his resignation at Thursday's noon meeting at the Convention & Visitors Bureau
