SINTON - Citizens in Sinton are concerned about what many say is a "black eye" in the middle of town. It all has to do with a controversial sign posted on the old Rialto Theatre.

Posted above what many believe to be an old landmark in Sinton, are the words "Sex Education".

Cheryl Rigotti says the sign is embarrassing.

"I mean people are driving through town going what is this?" she says.

Irma Trujillo can't even look at it.

"I don't even drive in front of this street to avoid seeing that," she says.

Kelly Rigotti says the embarrassment is worst when people visit.

"We had a big basketball tournament here this weekend. People were coming up and saying what is that? And why do you have that sort of thing in your town like this?" she says.

The building owner, Jorge Sosa, says the sign is an attack on the city.

"It's an intent to offend them. I hope they're offended," he says.

Sosa says the sign is for his son, currently in prison for molesting his own step-daughter.

Sosa says his son's crimes are the town's fault, claiming that several people in Sinton sexually abused his son while he was growing up.

We asked him if he thought the sign was a black eye on the town.

"I intended to black their eye," Sosa says.

The city says they're looking into it, but ultimately, Sosa owns the building, and as long as it isn't profane, he can put what he wants on his signs.

City Manager Marvin Townsend added that they are looking into questions about the building itself, but for now, Sosa can keep the sign up.

We're told the subject will likely be brought up for further discussion at the next city meeting in a couple weeks.
