Construction Workers Freed

CORPUS CHRISTI - A construction accident at Nile and Williams earlier this afternoon left two workers pinned under a slab of concrete.
It started with a bang, says a man who lives right next to the construction site.
"I could feel the floor shake at my house," says Spencer King.
The ground beneath two construction workers cutting a piece of concrete collapsed.
Now, the two workers were pinned by their legs under a 10 ft. X 25ft. Slab of concrete.
Rescuers worked for more than an hour, going into the hole with jack-hammers, chipping away at the concrete bit by bit.
Finally, the two men were lifted to freedom, but from the looks of their injuries, they'll likely face long recoveries.
Police tell 6 news at the very least, both men suffered broken bones, but that may not be the worst of it.
"Anytime you have that kind of loss of blood flow, it would increase the possibility of amputation," says Lt. Robert Alvarado of the Corpus Christi Police Department.
So while the workers are free, the extent of their injuries is still unknown.
