Community Rallies Behind Tuloso-Midway Student Battling Cancer

CORPUS CHRISTI - The family of friends of former Tuloso-Midway basketball player Chris Gelinas, who's battling a rare form of cancer, have started a social media campaign reaching out to the LA Lakers Kobe Bryant. Until very recently, Gelinas was undergoing treatment in his fight.

The #HelpGetKOBEToReachOutToChris is an attempt to get Gelinas' favorite basketball player to reach out to him during trying times. Friends have also started their own Facebook page - Help Get KOBE Bryant to reach out to Chris.

As his father Gary Gelinas wrote on Facebook, "Who knows?...if anyone deserves that contact it's my Warrior."

There will be a rally at 3pm today in front of Tuloso-Midway Intermediate School, 1921 Overland Trail, Corpus Christi, Texas.
