Community Raises Funds for Family of Boy Killed in Daycare Accident

CORPUS CHRISTI - The community came together today to help the family of a little boy who passed away over the weekend.

7 year old Jordan Arredondo died Sunday from injured he suffered when a television fell on him at the Bethune Daycare.

Today, volunteers from all over the city held a barbeque fundraiser on Baldwin near Lynch to help the family pay for funeral costs and other expenses.

Generous people came from all around, stood in a line that winded around the whole field, and got themselves some good barbeque, and donated to a good cause.

Arredondo's grandfather, Robert Arredondo, told us he was overwhelmed by all the support.

"Look at the turnout. I'm happy for everybody. Jordan's happy for everybody. Just a little boy but look at the turnout for him," Arredondo says.

Funeral arrangements are still pending, but we are told little Jordan Arredondo's organs were harvested to help others.

UPDATE: On Thursday morning the organizers of the event delivered $7,000 to a funeral home to cover the costs of burial and $3,500 to cover the costs of his headstone.
