ARANSAS PASS - A fire that destroyed an Aransas County family's home on Tuesday afternoon left them with only the clothes on their backs. Now, the community is working to help get them back on their feet.
Veronica Martinez, her daughter, Dakota, and son-in-law Zach called the place home. No one was home when the fire started because the family was at the hospital for their new born son, Thomas.
Team Satellite owner Kim Hoffstatter, a member of their church, is accepting donations for the family.
If you'd like to help stop by the shop at 1820 Highway 35 in Rockport between 9:30 am and 6:30pm. Or stop by the Charter Bank in Rockport to donate to the fund established for 'Dakota Martinez and Baby Tommy.'
It was just last Saturday when Zach had to seek help from a 911 dispatcher as his son decided it was time to come into the world. He delivered the premature baby inside the a restroom at the home.
