CORPUS CHRISTI - Tomorrow is election day here in Corpus Christi. It will be a huge day for local banker Trey McCampbell. He's one of the co-organizers of the Destination Bayfront project and he's been one of it's most visible faces.
For the past 3 years, McCampbell has spent countless hours of his own time helping guide the process of gathering public input to develop specific plans for the project. More recently he's helped run the campaign to get the project approved by the voters.
Although he has no financial stake in the project, McCampbell says it's a commitment he was willing to make to help make this a better community.
"I've been blessed to be able travel and see other communities and so I want our town to have what some of those other towns have. We've got assets that no one else has. To be on a bayfront like this with the beautiful beach and the water and this much space it's like.. it's like a gift," says McCampbell.
Tonight on KRIS 6 News at Ten, we'll have more of this interview with McCampbell and what has motivated him to invest such a huge amount of his own personal time and effort to Destination Bayfront.
