CORPUS CHRISTI - We started the day with partly to mostly cloudy skies over the Coastal Bend, but another front moved through the area around the midday time frame that essentially began to clear out the clouds from west to east. Despite the front, temperatures still warmed to the mid-70s this afternoon and as another surge of cold air arrives this evening, temperatures will fall rapidly.
Tonight, look for mainly clear skies, with the exception of a few lingering high clouds, and temperatures falling into the mid to upper 30s in the city. There is a Freeze Warning in effect for our northern counties once again tonight from 2-8AM for Live Oak, Bee, and Refugio counties where temperature will hover at or below the freezing mark for a few hours. Winds will be out of the north and vary between 6-12mph. Higher values will be along the coastline. Wind chill values will also be in the upper 20s to lower 30s for the entire area tonight.
Saturday looks to be a cool to chilly day with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies over the area. Temperatures will only reach the upper 50s to lower 60s in the afternoon with winds out of the northeast around 5-15mph.
Sunday, we begin to cloud up rapidly and scattered showers and a few thunderstorms move into the area on Monday and Tuesday with lingering activity on Wednesday. This all courtesy of Pacific and Gulf moisture moving into the area ahead of our next frontal boundary late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts will vary from a few hundredths to a couple of tenths, but we desperately need rain and this looks like a decent opportunity for us.
Have a great weekend!
