NEW ORLEANS -- Oil giant BP could be forced to pay the largest environmental fine ever for its role in the 2010 oil spill disaster.
The civil trial against BP begins today in federal court in New Orleans.
The trial will try to identify the causes of the explosion that killed eleven workers and led to millions of barrels of oil polluting the Gulf of Mexico.
BP already agreed to a $4.5 billion settlement of federal criminal charges stemming from the disaster.
