CORPUS CHRISTI - The Refinery Terminal Fire Company responded to a fire at the crude tower within the Citgo East plant in Corpus Christi this afternoon.
Company officials described the incident as a small construction fire within the unit already shut down for scheduled maintenance.
All Citgo personnel evacuated to safe areas while fire crews brought in equipment to spray foam on the tower.
The fire did not require any action by residents living nearby. It took fire crews several hours to get everything cooled down to a safe level and ensure the fire was out.
Citgo East resumed normal operations around 5pm.
