CORPUS CHRISTI - A judge has ruled David Christy is not competent at this time to stand trial for the brutal murder of his grandmother.
He'll undergo psychiatric treatment at a state hospital before officials hold another hearing to review his status later this summer.
His attorney told the judge she expects her client to evetually be declared competent to stand trial.
Authorities say Christy admitted to cutting up Johanna Christy, 77, with a chainsaw before placing the body parts in plastic bags to be buried in the backyard of her home on Bentwood.
David Christy, 28, has remained in the Nueces County Jail since his arrest on a charge of murder in February. During that time guards claim they've found Christy with six plastic spoons sharpened into knives.
