CORPUS CHRISTI - A Nueces County Judge has deemed David Christy not fit to stand trail yet, for the brutal murder of his 77-year old grandmother.
The defense attorney and state prosecutor agreed 28-year old David Christy's mental status is not one capable of standing trial.
Christy is the man accused of killing his grandmother, Johanna Christy, and dismembering her body with a chainsaw before burying her in the backyard.
Court documents state Christy told police in February, Johanna was not his grandmother and she was trying to poison him. It continues on by saying after asking for a public defender Christy said "I did it and buried her."
"It is of Dr. Martinez professional opinion that Mr. Christy is presently incompetent to stand trial, but will most likely regain competency in the foreseeable future," says Mark Stolley,
Christy will spend the next four months undergoing psychiatric treatment at a state hospital near Wichita Falls. Then another hearing will be held to review his competency to stand trial.
