BEIJING -- Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister met with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing as China pushes for a political resolution to the fighting in Syria, according to Chinese media.
China's State News Agency reported that it urged the Syrian government to take "realistic steps" towards a political transition.
Last month, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad announced what he calls plans for reconciliation talks to end the violence.
However, he said there would be no dialogue with people who he calls traitors.
