CORPUS CHRISTI - What a difference 24 hours can make as a late evening cold front pushed through the Coastal Bend yesterday and dropped temperatures from record high values to more seasonal levels. After tying a record high for the month of January of 91 degrees yesterday, temperatures have fallen some 20 to 25+ degrees this afternoon as most locations are struggling to reach the lower 70s today. The winds have continued to howl out of the northwest and are making for high fire danger day over South Texas. Red flag and gale warnings along with wind and small craft advisories are inundating the South Texas region this afternoon due to the high winds. However, there is some relief in sight as they should begin to calm down around 8 o'clock this evening and all warnings and advisories should expire.

Tonight will be mostly clear with a few high clouds streaming overhead. Temperatures will be on the chilly side as the clear skies and lighter winds will allow temperatures to fall rapidly and we should bottom out in the upper 30s to lower 40s tonight and into tomorrow morning. Kids will more than likely need the jacket as they head off to school in the morning.

Thursday will be another gorgeous day with mostly sunny skies, lighter winds out of the east-southeast around 6-12mph. Temperatures will only peak once again into the lower 70s to upper 60s along the coast.

The remainder of the work week and on into the weekend still looks fairly nice as we should reach the mid-70s by Saturday and Sunday with nighttime lows picking back up into the mid to upper 50s. Clouds will also return with a very weak frontal boundary lingering in the area, but will not do much to drop temperatures or raise chances of rainfall.

Have a great day!
