CORPUS CHRISTI - Police have determined a pistol brought to school by a kindergartner in Flour Bluff was not a real weapon, but a replica that does not fire projectiles of any sort.
This morning, the district alerted parents by phone to check the district website for a special message. The link at the top of the website lead visitors to a page that described how the boy brought the pistol to class in his backpack, presumably to show to others.
According to the district, the boy told his teacher he had the pistol. Officials say the child told them he had the gun on his dresser at home for some time.
Corpus Christi police looked into the matter and determined by 2 p.m. that the weapon was not real. District officials say Child Protective Services is looking into the matter.
