CORPUS CHRISTI - A chemical spill at Corpus Christi Army Depot prompted a precautionary shelter in place order for seven buildings at the depot.
CCAD spokesman Jose Rodriguez says a truck was moving an unknown type of chemical when a small amount of it was spilled.
Naval Air Station Corpus Christi firefighters immediately came to the scene and neutralized the chemical, according to Rodriguez.
Paramedics on the scanner can be heard discussing a 240 gallon spill of nitric or sulfuric acid. They're currently checking for any patients that may need to be treated, but there are no reports of injuries.
Corpus Christi Army Depot has advised 2nd shift employees not to report to work until 4pm (1600 hrs) as crews continue to deal with the spill.
