MIAMI (AP) - The CEO of a construction firm says officials don't yet know why a parking garage it was building collapsed, killing at least three people.
Bill Byrne is the president and chief executive officer of Ajax Building Corp. He said during a news conference Thursday that the company is working with authorities to learn more about what happened.
Byrne says the three men who died in the collapse worked for subcontractors of Ajax.
Those men have been identified by authorities as 53-year-old Samuel Perez; 48-year-old Carlos Hurtado de Mendoza; and Jose Calderon.
The five-story garage at Miami Dade College collapsed Wednesday, injuring several people and leaving some trapped beneath piles of twisted steel and crumbled concrete.
