CORPUS CHRISTI - Parents concerned about a dangerous school bus stop along the Joe Fulton Corridor are getting some help.
Two days after our story about the stop, CCPD officers were in the area looking for drivers breaking the law.
The bus stop itself, at the intersection of I-37 and the Joe Fulton Corridor, is not great.
However, what really concerns those who live in this small neighborhood is that too many trucks don't stop when the school buses do.
When a bus's red lights flash and the stop sign comes out, drivers on both sides of most roads are not supposed to pass the bus.
Parents of kids who use this bus stop say they see drivers frequently violate that rule.
Bus drivers in Tuloso Midway ISD have also noticed the violations.
After we contacted TMISD administrators, they requested more patrolling from CCPD, and on Wednesday, a pair of traffic officers on motorcycles were in the area looking for law-breakers.
Our camera was there as the driver of a pickup came zooming by and paid the price for speeding, but during today's dropoffs, we didn't observe anyone illegally passing buses.
Police are expected to frequent this area more often, especially during pickup and dropoff times, to make sure it stays that way.
