CCPD Officer Recognized for Saving Family from House Fire

CORPUS CHRISTI - An officer who saved a family from a burning home is being recognized in Austin today.

Last August, Corpus Christi PD Lieutenant James Gray was patrolling a neighborhood when he smelled smoke. He then saw fire coming from the garage and roof of a house.

When the homeowner couldn't open the door, Gray kicked the door open and rescued the homeowner, his wife, and their four young daughters and two other little girls who were there for a sleep over.

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement honored Lt. Gray today with the Valor award at the Texas State Capitol.
