CORPUS CHRISTI - There will be a town hall meeting tonight on when you should call police.
It will be held in the City Council chambers at 6:30 p.m. and will run until 8:30 p.m.
Chief Floyd Simpson said sometimes his officers are unable to respond to serious calls because they have to deal with other situations, such as "barking dog calls" or minor accidents.
Assistant Chief Jesse Garcia said CCPD will often get calls that are not police related. The police force wants officers to turn their focus on more serious crimes.
Many may wonder when they should call police. At tonight's town hall meeting, Chief Simpson will be able to answer that question and any other concern the public might have.
CCPD hopes to reassure citizens that the police are still there for them, but officers need to prioritize their responses.
Their goal is to keep the public as safe as possible.
