CORPUS CHRISTI - An officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department has resigned during the early stages of an investigation into his alleged activities.
Officials say they were checking to see if Captain Bernardo Torres had used department computers for inappropriate reasons. Chief Floyd Simpson says they weren't able to get very far in their investigation, because Torres chose to retire.
When asked if the timing of his retirement seems odd, Chief Simpson replied, "Not to us. It's his choice. You know, you make a choice when to come and work and then you make a choice when to leave. He chose to leave."
We tried to talk with Torres at his home today, but nobody answered the door.
