CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi ISD school board voted unanimously to add an auditorium and a dozen additional classrooms to the new southside high school at an added cost of just over $14 million.
The changes bring the estimated cost of the construction project to $93 million for the school off of Cimmaron Boulevard.
Board members say the addition of the auditorium will bring new opportunities. "We could have district statewide competitions here.. so this will give us an opportunity to really showcase and bring competitions here," says CCISD Trustee Carol Scott.
During the same meeting, board members approved spending a maximum of $34 million on the new middle school campus now under construction off of Rodd Field Road.
Most of the funds for the construction projects will come from bond monies. The rest will come from the district's special funds account.
